High Sierra Century
Well organized ride that is quite scenic, going through
mountainous country and
high desert. Can be cold and wet - come prepared!
I rode this as my first century in 2004 and did it again in 2005. In 2004 it
was cold, I had no coat or leg warmers and it rained and snowed. Weather was
better in 2005 but the head wind on the last 15 miles was still strong. This is
a tougher ride than you would think from the profile.
Plenty of SAG out.

Roads: 7 / 10 - At least one road had a
major "road snake" problem,
making you think you were riding railway tracks.
Course Marking: 9/10 - difficult for even me to get lost on this one.
Route Map: 9/10
Food: 8/10 - Well stocked, but the lunch was a little sparse and I didn't see
much pasta at the finish barbeque.
Facilities: 9/10
Countryside: 8/10 - I found the high
desert interesting, but then you don't
see much of that sort of thing in
England.
Challenge: 9/10
Overall: 8/10
