Trip to London

Changing the guard at Buckingham Palace
Larry and Dave, feeling the cold in London
Krista in Westminster
Outside Westminster Abbey - look there, up in the sky! Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, wait a minute, it's the Sun!
The London Eye (world's largest ferris wheel) - shame we never had time to ride it.
Larry doesn't quite manage to hold up Nelson's Column
Trafalgar Square. Who's that bloke on the column? - Poor Admiral Nelson!
Larry, Dave, Rebecca and Krista outside the Tower of London
The gang walk over Tower bridge
Another shot of Tower bridge
The view from the walk way on Tower bridge, to the left is the Tower of London.

There is quite a nice tour and exhibition at the bridge explaining its history.

Do we recognize this Guardsman and his Victorian lady?
Me on HMS Belfast, looking across the Thames river with the Tower of London in the background.

HMS Belfast is the last surviving British Battleship from WW2. Once again, us guys took the tour - the girls didn't fancy it.

Having a curry in Leicester square. When in London you HAVE to get a Vindaloo, however, while Rebecca looks a little green around the gills here, it was actually me that got an upset stomach!
Krista and Larry also enjoyed the meal. The next day Larry and I got a Kebab and I found out that they are called "Euros" in the States - no wonder I could never get one over here!

However, Dave didn't fancy it - apparently the London ones aren't as good as the ones in Chicago!

Hello sleeping beauty! Larry got the short straw and the couch.
Stonehenge, it's only been up 5,500 years - I can only apologize for Bronze age British workmen!
Dave, Krista and Larry smile despite of the cold on Salisbury Plain.

The big stone with the point on the top, behind Krista, marks the position where the Sun raises on the Winter Solstice. Opinion is divided as to whether this was also bad news for one unlucky local virgin!

Another view of Stonehenge, this one shows more of Salisbury Plain.

The raised area in the left foreground is a Barrow - a bronze age burial mound.

Larry and I outside Salisbury Cathedral.

As I recall, among the famous representations of this Cathedral, it was painted several times by John Constable IMO his best work is Salisbury Cathedral from the Meadows (1831).
